At Don Bosco Academy of Music and Fine Arts, we offer a wide range of classes to suit all ages and abilities. Children from age 6 and above can attend our classes. Classes are organized and arranged in such a way that the students are trained well to attend the grade examinations conducted by Trinity College, London.

The classes conducted under Trinity College, London are Piano, Keyboard, Violin, Guitar, Western Vocal, and Drums. We also have classes under DB Academy for Carnatic Vocal, Tabala, Mruthangam, Chenda, and Classical Dance. Our Fine Arts section of the department conducts classes for Painting and Drawing.

PIANO & KEYBOARD

A keyboard instrument is any musical instrument played using a musical keyboard. The most common of these is the piano. The piano is widely used in western music for solo performance, chamber music, and accompaniment, and also as a convenient aid to composing and rehearsal. The piano has long been a crucial contributor to many musical genres, from classical to contemporary.

GUITAR

The guitar is, and has always been, a social instrument. In all its forms, it has always been a portable, multi-stringed instrument made for public hearing. Even today, there's nothing better than hanging out with some friends and being able to strum a few songs on the guitar. And if you've just bought your first guitar, then you're in luck: you can play literally hundreds of popular songs by learning just a handful of chords. But playing the guitar is more than just struggling through a half-recognizable version of some song, it also requires good technique. In our academy, you will learn the basics of how to hold the guitar, use a pick, and other important fundamental techniques.

VIOLIN

The violin is a string instrument, usually with four strings and its sound is made when a bow is drawn across the strings. It is the smallest and highest-pitched member of the violin family of string instruments, which also includes the viola and cello. Violins are a primary instrument in orchestras and in classical performances. A violin is sometimes called a fiddle, regardless of the type of music played on it. A person who plays the violin is called a violinist or fiddler.

VOCAL

Vocal music is music performed by one or more singers, with or without non-vocal instrumental accompaniment, in which singing provides the main focus of the piece. Music without any non-vocal instrumental accompaniment is referred to as a cappella. Vocal music typically features sung words called lyrics, although there are notable examples of vocal music that are performed using non-linguistic syllables or noises, sometimes as musical onomatopoeia. A short piece of vocal music with lyrics is called a song. Vocal music is probably the oldest form of music, since it does not require any instrument besides the human voice. All musical cultures have some form of vocal music.

PERCUSSIONS

A percussion instrument is a musical instrument that is sounded by being struck or scraped by a beater; struck, scraped or rubbed by hand; or struck against another similar instrument. The percussion family is believed to include the oldest musical instruments, following the human voice. It's not easy to be a percussionist because it takes a lot of practice to hit an instrument with the right amount of strength, in the right place and at the right time. The common percussion instruments that are trained here in the Academy are the following: Drums, Thabala, Mruthangam, and Chenda. However for Drums we follow the syllabus of Trinity College, London and prepare them well for the grade examinations.
