Don Bosco Academy of Music and Fine Arts proudly hosted IL PIANO – The Piano Fiesta of Sri. Vivek V Santhosh at 6.30 pm in the open theatre of DB Vennala.
The Piano Fiesta began with the prayer Vaazhthidunnitha Swarga Naayaka a touching composition of Late Johnson Master in Malayalam lead by Sri. Gittu Joy. Soon after the prayer, we had the lighting of the kuthu vilakku by Fr. Joyce Francis (Rector), Fr. Yashin Jose (Director of DB Academy of Music and Fine Arts), Sri. Vivek V. Santhosh (Pianist), Dr. Shaly Anthappan (Associate Professor of English Literature at St. Joseph College, Thrissur) and Master Hendric Alwin Rozario (Student Representative, DB Academy).
Sri. Vivek V Santhosh (Piano) and Sri. Sanjeev Kochappan (Drums) commenced their performance with a lively composition Cantaloupe Island (A jazz standard by Herbie Hancock). It was followed by a few other dynamic and vibrant compositions of his own. The depth of of knowledge Sri. Vivek has in South Indian Music was very obviously unveiled from the sweet sounding way he presented the different pieces. He concluded his jam session with an own electrifying composition. Soon after the Piano performance of Sri. Vivek, keeping in mind the importance of the day, Vidhyarambham, we had a symbolic way of honoring our Music teachers by giving them a memento and a ponnada. Fr. Yahsin then came forward to express his deep felt gratitude to Sri. Vivek V Santhosh and Sri. Sajeevan for their amazing performance. Ms. Rose Ollukkaran (Past Student of DB IJK and presently doing her P.G. in Stella Maris, Chennai) was the Master of Ceremony of the event.
Despite the slight drizzle that
persisted throughout the show, not a single listener moved off from the
audience as the performance of Sri. Vivek on Piano, Keyboard and Keytar was a
breathtaking experience for everyone gathered.
He rocked the day in every respect. It was indeed an honour to have an
excellence artiste like Sri. Vivek V. Santhosh in our midst. Sri. Vivek is the
first person to have done his LTCL in Classical Piano under Trinity College
London from Kerala in 2009. He has performed at the British High
Commission in Delhi along with his own band Keith
Terret Feat Vian. He has had the privilege of being associated with well
known international pianists like Paul Stewart, Michael Ross, Shai Maestro etc.
Sri. Vivek has got accepted to Berklee College of Music, Boston with a
scholarship in the year 2012.
